The Genesis Garden

The Genesis Garden contains flowering native plants, roses and grasses and provides numerous options for the placement of cremated remains.  These options cater to individual requirements and allow for a single plaque or for a couple or family to be remembered together.

The Genesis Garden Memorial Options:

Rosie Rankin Garden

The Rosie Rankin Garden provides both rose and shrub garden settings.  Bronze plaques on granite bases are placed within the garden bed.  The cremated remains may be securely interred underneath.

These locations allow you to commemorate an individual, a couple or even keep a family together.

This area was originally planned to incorporate memorials for pets, so that they could be placed with their owners.  While there are some pet memorials within the area, following the implementation of the Cemeteries & Crematoria Act 2003 pet interments were discontinued.

Garden Edge Memorials

Conveniently located close to the front gates, Garden Edge memorials are a simple yet dignified memorial option for cremated remains.  These positions allow for the placement of a plaque at the edge of a garden bed and cremated remains may be interred within the bed.

Lullaby Garden

The Lullaby Garden is a unique and special resting place for children.  You can design and dedicate your own plaque for placement within the Lullaby Gardens, creating a special place to return to whenever you wish.  Please contact us to discuss the options available.

The Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust holds a Children’s Christmas Remembrance Service each year early in December.  This annual event was established after families expressed a desire to spend Christmas with their loved ones.  This service is held at Springvale Botanical Cemetery and all are welcome.

Bunurong also holds a Christmas Remembrance Service, remembering children and adults.

Walls

Wall memorials are a traditional form of remembrance that are simple yet dignified.  There are several options available to suit your needs.

Granite Wall Niches provide both single and dual positions.  The plaque for dual positions is specially designed to initially allow for the commemoration of one person, with an additional plaque easily added later to remember a couple.  All niche positions allow for the placement of cremated remains securely behind the plaque.

The Book of Life offers a simple form of commemoration when the cremated remains are to be scattered or placed elsewhere.

Garden Seats

Seat positions provide a restful place to visit and reflect and allow for the placement of up to four plaques.  Cremated remains may be scattered in the surrounding gardens.
