The Sturdee Memorial Garden

Bunurong provides a special area for ex-service personnel.  The Sturdee Memorial Garden is named in honour of the members of the Sturdee family who served their country with distinction.

Four central flag poles represent the four serving members of the Sturdee family:

  • Colonel Alfred Hobart Sturdee C.M.G., V.D., A.A.M.C.
  • Sir Frederick Charles Doveton Sturdee Bt. (1916) G.C.B., K.C.M.G., C.V.O., R.N.
  • Captain Frederick Ramney Sturdee
  • Lieutenant General Sir Vernon Ashton Hobart Sturdee K.B.E., C.B., D.S.O.

A striking memorial within the area stands in honour of the ultimate sacrifice made by service personnel in Vietnam.

Cremation memorials are available to ex-service personnel and their partners.  The Office of Australian War Graves permit War Grave plaques in this area.

Bunurong holds an annual Remembrance Day Service in November.  All are welcome.
