FREE Italian Carlton Bus Tour

 Melbourne General Cemetery, 10:00am

Enjoy a FREE bus tour of the rich Italian heritage in the iconic Melbourne General Cemetery in Carlton and Lygon Street, Carlton. The tour conducted by historian Dr Celestina Sagazio is entertaining and informative.

The tour is followed by a free lunch at an Italian-owned restaurant in Lygon Street.

We suggest a $5 donation per person for the Historical Restoration and Refurbishment Fund which finances the restoration of significant monuments.

Notable Italians buried in Melbourne General Cemetery include the Massonis of Florentino fame, Mietta O’Donnell, the Valmorbidas, the DiMattinas and Mondo Bertocchi.

Famous sites in Lygon Street include University Café, Italian Piazza, Former Borsari’s, Lygon Food Store, Former Giancarlo’s Coffee Shop and Brunetti’s.
